Wayne Hartung has many reasons to be proud of his
career. He became an entrepreneur before he was 20 and climbed the corporate
ladder to become the Vice President of a collision company in Alabama in his
20’s. Wayne Hartung has a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business from the University of Alabama and also was the voice of
small business before Congress.
In 2003, Wayne Hartung was nominated for the
Leadership Award of the National Republican Congressional Committee by
President George W. Bush. In 2004, Wayne Hartung was honored with the Ronald
Reagan Gold Medal for his service on the NRCC’s Business Advisory Council. Both
honors were a result of Wayne Hartung’s work representing small businesses to
Congress.
Wayne Hartung was appointed to be the small business
delegate for lower Alabama by Senator Tom Delay. His position as delegate was
to represent the needs and concerns of small business to congress. To appoint
Wayne Hartung to such an important position, Senator Tom Delay demonstrated the
faith he had in Wayne Hartung as both a public and business leader.
When Wayne Hartung was appointed to the position of
delegate, he was deeply honored but knew the appointment would come with many
challenges of its own. Wayne Hartung would be a voice for hundreds of small
business owners. He would have to consider the needs and challenges of a number
of industries. Ultimately, Wayne Hartung treated his appointment as small
business delegate with the same professionalism he treated his own professional
career.
In addition to talking before Congress on the behalf
of small businesses, Wayne Hartung worked with legislators to obtain grants for
small and minority businesses. No one understands the challenges of small
businesses more than someone who has been a small business owner. Wayne
Hartung, as an entrepreneur and President of two businesses, understood those
challenges and helped Congress understand them as well.
